Could this be the answer to buying a house without the usual first-time buyer challenges?

We are partnering with a new type of mortgage adviser that is emerging in the UK.

One that is dedicated to help you through the house buying process together.

They want to help you avoid the many challenges you are likely to face along the way, and if they can’t be avoided, help you deal with them as they happen.

We call it buying a house together.

Why now?

Here at Move Engine we dedicate a large amount of our time to speaking with first-time buyers who have recently purchased their first home.

In many cases there are things that went well, however, some tell us all about how challenging it was to finally get the keys and move on.

We also speak with a lot of buyers who are still trying to figure everything out.

Many have spent lots of time googling and researching but feel overwhelmed by it all and want to know what they should be doing and what to expect.

The importance of advice

Wether you choose a Move Engine recommended mortgage adviser or go with a friends recommendation we think choosing the right adviser for you should be your top priority.

Why? In our experience, for many of the people we speak to the path to getting a mortgage was not as smooth as they thought. We hear stories of surprises on the credit file or challenges around credit scores causing issues.

A good mortgage adviser is there to help you.

In one recent case a young family missed out on the property they wanted even though they had an agreement in principle from their bank. They had to wait another 6 months before they could try again, after the finally found out what was wrong.

Often first-time buyers are loyal to their bank. It can be a good starting point, but with over 90 lenders out there offering thousands of products it can be hard to know which one is right for you and your needs.

It’s about more than just a good rate

Mortgage advisers talk to us about what they see as important when making choices around mortgages.

A good mortgage adviser will want to understand the following before giving you advice:

  • Why are you buying and how long do you plan to stay?
  • What is your employment type? Are you self employed, a contractor, a director, on a zero hours contract?
  • How good is your credit and are there any credit?
  • What does your income and expenditure look like?
  • Do you want any special features like overpayment or payment holidays?
  • How much support do you need?

If you are still trying to figure things out they can save you time

For many of us buying a house today is not as straightforward as it once was.

Whether it be raising a deposit, getting help from your relatives, learning about Help To Buy or Shared Ownership or finding a new more affordable location to buy your first home there, is a lot to figure out.

It can be easy to get stuck carrying out lots of confusing research online for hours and even months at a time.

The challenge is traditionally there hasn’t been an obvious place to turn for help, until now of course.

Don’t give up

What’s most important is to not give up. If you are struggling our advice is to speak to someone who can help you figure it all out, whether that be one of our advisers or not.

Save yourself time and worry by getting help, the sooner the better.

How can Move Engine help you?

If you are looking for a personal mortgage adviser then you have come to the right place.

We are dedicated to bringing a new type of mortgage advice to first-time buyers in the UK.

Mortgage advice that makes buying your first-time home simpler.

We hand pick our mortgage advisers based on their service and the experience of their customers.

Going beyond traditional mortgage advice

It’s about making sure you get everything you would expect from a traditional mortgage broker.

Then adding the extra services you might not have thought of, but their customers love.

Services like chasing estate agents and conveyancers to ensure your sale keeps moving.

Services like helping with surveys to make sure there are no surprises when you move in.

Our advisers will take you right through from the early decision stages through to completion.

You are unique, your adviser should match your needs (And more)

Not everyone has the same needs. That’s why we like to recommend based on your situation.

If you want a more hands on approach then we have advisers who offer that, if you happy to just be guided then we have those advisers too.

Perhaps you have something more complicated about your situation that requires a different type of advice.

Or are you  just looking for someone to explain each step and take the hassle out of the process for you as much as they can?

One thing people really value is how they become your point of contact throughout each step of the process, so you know what’s going on and what to expect.

Traditionally it would be up to you to figure this out on your own.

Beyond that you want someone who can take as much of the hassle and stress away as they can, so you can focus on the exciting parts of buying your first home.

Managing the sale for you

Not sure if this is right for you? Here are some frequently asked questions about our service to help you decide:

Your service sounds expensive, how much does it cost?

Our mortgage advisers all charge a fee typically payable on mortgage application. You may be surprised to find they compare quite favourably with other mortgage advisers, typically ranging from £300 – £500 per case. They also typically earn a commission from the lender which allows them to spend time providing this level of service to you. All fees will be discussed up front, before you agree to use their service.

What times are calls available?

We understand that modern life can be busy. That’s why most of our advisers offer initial calls at a time to suit you. Whether that be during the day, evenings or even some weekends. They will try and work around you. Typically they will contact you within 24 hours of us passing them your details.

Do they have access to a wide range of mortgage deals?

We ensure all our advisers have access to a large number of lenders so that they can choose the right lender to match your circumstances. This is especially important if you want the best choice for you.

Will there be pressure to use them?

Absolutely not. The first chat is free and is there to help you understand your options, what you can afford and get you out there ready to buy. If after the first call you decide you don’t want the help from your adviser, then you are under no obligation to use them.

It sounds too good to be true, is it?

We are not promising your sale wont have it’s ups and downs. Buying property in the UK is challenging because there are so many parties involved. What we promise is that you will have an experienced adviser to call upon to help you through and that you will receive advice to avoid many of the problems and stresses in the first place.

How does Move Engine make money?

Move Engine works in partnership with a new type of mortgage adviser in the UK to bring you this service. We find and recommend only the best people for you to work with and always request your feedback on the service so that we can improve. Move Engine will receive a referral fee from the adviser should you use their service. This means we can continue to provide the Move Engine service to you for free. Our promise is that you will not be charged any more for the advisers service than if you went to them directly in the first place.

I have special circumstances, can they still help?

If you are self employed, have experienced bad credit in the past, ,have been rejected for a mortgage elsewhere or are using the help to buy schemes then we have a range of advisers who specialise in those areas. Just let us know when you make your enquiry.

How many advisers does Move Engine work with? Are places limited?

We purposely only work with a small number of advisers to ensure you get the best service. This does mean we can only help a limited number of first-time buyers at this time. Service is the most important aspect to us, so all our advisers will be given a limited number of people to help at any given time to ensure you receive the best service possible.

Meet Tom Leach who will be chatting with you to match you to an adviser

Hi, my name is Tom and I’ve worked in the property industry for over 15 years. It was both my personal experiences buying houses and the lack of support in the industry for first-time buyers that led me to start Move Engine. Having gone into the buying process with such high expectations, I was disappointed with the lack of help and support available.

So Move Engine was created and I went out started to find the best partners in the industry to help you. If you are struggling to get started or have some questions holding you back, then let’s chat it through together so that you can move forwards. There are no silly questions when it comes to buying your first house and we are here to help you.

Having had several conversations with my sons looking to purchase their first property in London, I felt concerned that as it had been some time since I had been directly involved with the house buying process, was I really equipped to give the right advice? Tom, CEO and founder of Move Engine, scheduled a call and they were both really impressed. Totally recommend his company to all parents of first time buyers.
